Makira Ulawa Province men’s football team continued their dominance in pool B of the Solomon Games football competition with a third straight win on Saturday.
Makira Ulawa sealed their third consecutive win after coming from behind to claim a 3-1 victory over a determined Guadalcanal team at the Lawson Tama Stadium.
Guadalcanal got off to a positive start when they signalled a warning by netting the first goal of the match just 25 seconds from kick off.
They then resorted to a more defensive play which saw Makira Ulawa being held out throughout the first stanza.
The Kakamoras came back with a faster paced and consistent play in the second half and found themselves the equalizing goal along with a penalty and their third goal to extend their lead to 3-1.
This was Guadalcanal’s third straight loss in group matches which leaves them with little or no chances of advancing into the second stage of the competition.
The day’s other match was between Malaita and Lauru Kuvojo.
Malaita then registered their first win of the competition putting them on second place with four points.
They beat Kuvojo 4-2.
Matches will continue today featuring Central Islands and Temotu at 2pm, to be followed by Honiara and Western Province at 4pm.
