…USP SI 1 & Emalus 1 draws all
THE Solomon Islands National University (SINU) team 1 has registered their first 3 points following their first win at the SIFF Academy field, Monday afternoon.
SINU side denied the University of the South Pacific Solomon Islands (USP SI) team 3 in the 2016 inter-tertiary soccer competitions that are currently underway in Honiara 1-0 victory in Monday’s third opening match.
It was a hard fought battle between the two teams as USP SI gave everything to find the back of the net but denied by their opponent which well-armed with experienced players that already make their way and appearances into the top leagues and teams in the country.
The first half ended in a scoreless goal.
The second spell has been entertaining as both teams battle it out break the deadlock.
USP SI has a lot of chances but could not utilise its targets thus giving the chance for SINU to register their first 3 points with a simple scored goal half way through the second half.
The scoreline was locked at 1-0 till the final whistle.
In another matches USP SI team1 and USP Emalus 1 draw 1 all while USP SI team 2 suffer first loss to UPNG team 2, 2-1.
Matches will continue today.
Also futsal games will also commence today at the Panatina Pavilion.
Rugby at the Panatina field, while volleyball and netball being hosted outside of the Multi-purpose hall courts.
The sporting event aims to bring tertiary students to build relationship and interact through sports after a long year of studies.
University students from University of the South Pacific in Laucala, Fiji National University, Fiji School of Medicine, Emalus campus, USP Centre Honiara, Solomon Islands National University, Alafua New Zealand and UPNG are taking part in the week long sporting event.
USP SI students host this year’s event.
