Hundreds of people participated in the 11th annual stunned Mullet fishing competing organized by the stunned mallet sport fish club in the Western Province.
The fishing competition was held over the weekend to support Helena Goldie Hospital.
Companies and the communities in and around Zipolo Habu Resort, in the Lola Island, Vona Vona Lagoon participated in the event.
Competitors used rod and reel and hand line fishing, competing in several categories some of which included champion coat, champion game fish, champion bottom fish and angler.
A welcome ceremony was staged at the resort on Friday with BBQ, briefing and raffle. The actual fishing competition was held over two days on Saturday and Sunday with presentation of prizes.
Some of the prizes won by the fishers included $5000 for the heaviest Marlin and $2000 for the heaviest bill-fish.
