The Fiu national hydro project in Auki Malaita Province is now half nearing its completion after reach stages 10 and 11 in the project phase.
That was according to the Fiu Hydro Government Project consultant Bernard Bata’anisia.
The project which has about 21 stages has now reached half way, he confirmed.
“The project is now at stages 10 and 11 which is Vesting Orders and Land registration.”
Mr. Bata’anisia explained the two stages are now in process and will be completed soon which will allow the project to move to another stage.
“As the report stands, there were about 10 stages left.”
He said after completing stages 10 and 11 respectively which are now currently underway, the project then will move to stage 12 which is the leasing of title to Solomon Power by the five trustees.
Stage 13 will involve the payment of the premium and lease arrangement and then in stage 14 will be the release of funds from Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Stage 15 will involve the design phase by Saman Corporation of Korea and in stage 16 will be an awareness and technical works process.
For stage 17 there will be an environment impact assessment studies to be followed by a local and international tender process and selection process at stage 18.
The construction phase is stage 19 and at stage 20 will be the completion and handing over of the project to the Solomon Power by the construction company and finally at stage 21 the Hydro project will be operated by Solomon Power for a duration agreed in the lease.
By far the project consultant Mr. Bata’anisia told this paper that he is happy that the project has now reach stage 10 and 11 respectively adding, the project has now reached half way and he asks the important stake holders to continue to work together until the project is done and deliver its purposes to the people.
