THE strategic work plan 2015 to 2017 for Fiu hydro project was handed over the Malaita provincial government by the resource owners of the Fiu hydro project this.
Malaita Premier Peter Channel Ramohia received the document on Wednesday in Auki.
The ceremony was attended and witnessed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy Deputy Director Gabriel Aimaea, Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) Manager Outstation Auki Joshua Keniore, former diplomat and resource owner Bernard Bata’anisia, chairman of Fiu hydro project Alfred Gegeo and Fiu resource owners.
During the brief ceremony Mr Gegeo officially handed over two reports to Mr Ramohia.
In response Mr Ramohia acknowledged the resource owners, the task force of Fiu hydro project for their hard work in playing their role to develop the strategic work plan.
He further acknowledged major donor Asian Development Bank (ADB) with the provision of US$15million to support the development of the hydro project.
The premier said, the project is an important project of the DCC Government in line with the MART government’s policy.
“Fiu hydro project is a priority project not only for the Fiu resource owners, but also for the Malaita province as well.
“I’m happy to stand here in front of you the resource owners, because you are the most important people of this project,” Mr Ramohia said.
He said, as human beings everything comes from the heart and its the start of everything.
“If our heart is good then everything we talk and write about will come into fulfilment.
“So I encourage you the resource owners to work together with the national and provincial government and our donor partners with our hearts,” he said.
