Solomon Islands will have five of its referees officiating in the coming Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Oceania Club Championship in New Zealand which will start this weekend.
The five referees are Nelson Sogo, George Ime, Benard Kera, Jeffery Solodia and referee assessor, John Sa’ohu.
These referees were called upon by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).
According to the SIFF Referee development officer, Justin Mutukera, Sogo and Ime will be refereeing matches while Kera and Solodia will be assisting referees.
This is the first time for Solodia and Kera to officiate in Oceania’s biggest clubs’ competition.
Mutukera said this shows that the fitness level and alertness of assistant referees is high.
The duo has been assessed by the OFC in the U17, U20 and the preliminary Oceania Championship.
