Malaita Kingz FC’s striker, Richard Fono is currently leading the Telekom S-league Golden Boot Race with nine goals from eight matches played.
Fono is one of the upcoming talents who had his chance of showcasing his hidden talents in the fifth TSL season and has proved it by scoring in nearly all Kingz matches.
He is closely chased by Warriors striker from Vanuatu, Kency Tangis with eight goals, team mate Lore Foanaota and Brian Kaltack of Warriors with seven goals each and Atana Fa’arodo of Koloale with six points.
Some of the country’s renowned players, the likes of Warriors striker Dennis Ifuanoa, Western United’s Abraham Iniga, Gagame Feni, Benjamin Totori and Harrison Mala of KOSSA are also in the top ten goal scorers list.
Fono looks good to take this season’s golden boot award if he continues to maintain the lead by extending his tally in each remaining game for Kingz.
However the chances of finishing this season with the highest of goals remains wide open as each club still has around seven to eight matches left to play before the season ends which will give players a chance of extending their number of goals.
