SOLOMON Islands Football rank move two steps higher according to the latest FIFA men’s ranking.
It moves from the previous ranking of 182 to 180.
The increase shows football in the country has improved slightly but it does not push Solomon Islands position in the Oceania ranking.
Solomon Islands although the only pacific country experienced a slight increase in its ranking still remain on the fourth position in the Oceania ranking.
Leading the Oceania ranking is New Zealand followed by Tahiti and New Caledonia.
The three pacific countries are still maintaining their positions although there is a slight drop in their rankings.
FIFA calculates every country’s ranking based on match results whether it is a win, a loss or a draw from friendly matches, World Cup matches and the strength of the nation’s opponent ranking-wise.
These points are then accumulated from the country’s past results in the previous four years, allowing some teams to move up or down in the rankings despite not playing any matches or losing points during a particular period.
Solomon Islands’ last action was during the Oceania Nations Cup, since then the ranking has experienced a roller coaster ride.
Solomon Islands is expected to be back in action during the upcoming Pacific Games schedule for June 4-18 in Papua New Guinea.
Meanwhile Germany, Argentina and Colombia were ranks the top three best in the FIFA World rankings.
