FORMER Guadalcanal Province (GP) Premier Stephen Panga has passed away in Honiara last weekend.
A statement issued by his immediate family members and relatives yesterday confirmed his passing.
“On behalf of the immediate family at Matanga village, North Guadalcanal to all family relatives, friends, work colleagues both former and current at both private and Government Institutions on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands and overseas.
“We wish to inform you all of the untimely passing away of our dear loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle and grandfather, the late Mr Stephen Panga, former Premier of Guadalcanal Province on Saturday 6 January 2024 in Honiara.
“Please keep us in your prayers in this deep sense of loss we sustained,” the statement said.
There are two places where family relatives, work colleagues and friends of the late Stephen Panga can visit if they wish to share their sympathy with the family – at the morgue or at the house cry at Matanga village, Metapona Downstream.
His body is expected to be at the NRH morgue until such time it is ready to be taken to his village.
Late Panga, in his early 60s, became the premier in 2013 and held a number of positions in both state and private firms.
He was also the Chairman of the Lands Board in the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey.
Since the news of his passing was announced yesterday, many who came to know the late leader have expressed their condolences to his immediate families and relatives.
