MEMBERS of the Malaita Provincial Assembly (MPAs) who were part of the former Daniel Suidani-led Malaita Alliance for Rural Advancement (MARA) government met and welcomed home their former leader in a brief meeting in Auki.
Speaking to Solomon Star Auki following the meeting with Mr Suidani last Friday afternoon, MPA for Ward 24 Peter Taraumae said they were thrilled to welcome back the former premier and discuss with him.
Mr Taraumae said Suidani is a great Malaita leader, adding that they were happy to have him back in the country and in Malaita Province.
Despite the fact that he is no longer the Premier and an MPA, Mr Suidani remains an important and influential figure in Malaita as former MARA MPAs and the Malaita public still look up to him with great respect and admiration.
Speaking during the brief welcome back meeting, Mr Suidani said he was glad to meet with likeminded MPAs who faithfully served Malaita Province under his premiership.
Whilst acknowledging that he is now an ordinary Solomon Islands citizen, Mr Suidani expressed commitment to continue advancing the interest of MARA for Malaita Province moving forward.
He encouraged former MARA MPAs to continue truthfully serving the people of Malaita and expressed hope to seeing them reelected in the next election.
The brief meeting was held at the Malaita Provincial Assembly Conference room.
