RESOLUTION of the 2014 Our Telekom national tourism forum (NTF) resolution will be presented to parliament.
Director of tourism and culture and chair of the forum Barney Sivoro confirmed this in an interview with the Solomon Star on Tuesday.
Mr Sivoro said, the committee will finalise the resolution this week and circulate to participants for comments since they did not have enough time to do it last Friday.
“From here on, these resolutions will be presented to the Solomon Islands tourism council meeting planned for the 24-25th of this month.
“The council comprises of the provincial government ministers responsible for tourism chaired by the national government minister for tourism. Hopefully they will endorse the resolution so that the chair of the council can present it to Cabinet for approval.
“This process is important because everyone needs to be aware of what the industry wants through the forum’s discussions and hopefully play their part in supporting the development of tourism,” Mr Sivoro said.
The tourism director said the ministry and Solomon Islands visitors bureau (SIVB) had taken the step because they didn’t want the resolution to become just a well written statement but one that can lead to real action and commitment by all those that were involved.
“What we’ll need is the total commitment by all stakeholders with enough resources allocated to implement the resolutions.
“Everybody must play their part not just the government. On the other hand, the outcome of the forum will be used as a launch pad for development of the new tourism master plan,” Mr Sivoro said.
