FOUR Member of Parliament (MP) within the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government are likely to make a switch if the proposed motion of no confidence is tabled today.
A resigned Minister told the Solomon Star last night claiming these four MPs are currently within the government.
“They are likely to resign and join us to oust the Manasseh Sogavare-led government.”
The Minister claimed these four MPs are members of the United Democratic Party (UDP).
The former Minister said, these four have confirmed to them their likely movement.
“This will be seen once the no motion of confidence is moved in Parliament.
“At the moment they are currently wearing a government cap, but will vote against the DCC government.”
The resigned Minister refused to reveal the names when asked, but stressed that they will move out and join the Kadere Party to make their numerical strength rise from 13 to 17, which will legally gave Kadere party the majority number with power to choose the PM within their own circle.
UDP is one the three parties that made up the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government, which has a total of 18 members, Kadere Party second with 13 members and Peoples Alliance Party (PAP) two, however PAP has further increased to eight after six members from the Parliamentary Independent Group crossed the floor to join the government early this week.
Its understood Mr Sogavare is from the UDP.
Attempts to get comments from the government side last night proved unsuccessful.
