A chief from Fox Bay in South Guadalcanal has called on the responsible leaders of the province and the national government to address transport difficulties facing the people of Isunavutu and Tangarare.
He revealed this in an interview with the Northwest Guadalcanal Solomon Star stringer John Toki, during a short visit to the weather coast recently.
Sotere Ria told the news that transport access for the people in the area is one of the major challenges facing the farmers of Tangarare and Isunavutu.
He said villagers there want to sale their food crops at the market centres in Honiara but are having difficulties in transport services.
“Many farmers here traveled by outboard motor to Lambi, before boarding a pickup truck to Honiara which is very exhausting and inconsistent as well for their usual practise to transport agricultural produce,” he said.
The chief added that people in Isunavutu and Tangarare want to see a regular shipping service for the area, where farmers could access transport every week to ship their massive agricultural products to Honiara for market purposes.
He finally stated that once transport access for people in the area is provided once in a week then that should meet the demand of farmers and people in the area, to access market in Honiara to sell their copra, cocoa and garden food.
