Dear Editor – The arrival of the ‘Sun Princess’ with its 2000 passengers on 24 April is set to be the first visible evidence of a raft of fresh marketing approaches that have been adopted in the past couple of months by the SIVB.
A deal arranged with Solomon Airlines will soon see the arrival of a top film crew from Australia, which will film throughout the Solomon Islands to help promote its many attractions to tourists from both within the region and from far beyond our shores.
Solomon Airlines has also, recently, announced a special fare package to encourage passenger numbers from Sydney in Australia.
The SIBV Marketing team, additionally, has arranged for a top tourist trade writer, Chris Madden, to produce an illustrated magazine article on the Solomon Islands and this will be featured in the upcoming ‘Cruise Passenger Magazine.’
Special attention is currently being given to the potential seen in the Mainland Chinese tourist market and it hoped this focus will encourage many Chinese visitors in the coming months to visit our shores.
All these measures are seen as a vanguard for further tourism development in the ‘Happy Isles.’
