The Forum Solomon Islands International (FSII) has taken on board pleas of Rennell landowners over controversial land acquisition and mining activities by APID on the island.
The popular group founded in Social Media networking has gained momentum as more support from people and organisations puts weight on FSII’s role to bark over self-serving government decisions.
This was revealed during the People’s forum, where Renbel landowners were given the opportunity to share their frustrations over government decisions from responsible public authorities like the Ministry of Lands, Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Environment and the Magistrate Court.
Following landowners’ presentations FSII executive then agreed to include Rennell controversy in their list of alleged corruption issues prepared for the Cabinet to address.
FSII members told the meeting that Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) has no excuse to remain silent, but tell the country why their seven months in office caused more heartache to the public and the people of Rennell, whom were deprived justice over their land and resources.
Highlighted in the meeting was the message to fight corruption as promised by the DCC, but instead doing the opposite, which FSII strongly believed their efforts in putting together issues outlined in the People’s Forum will definitely rectify transparency and credibility of government offices.
