SUVA, ( FIJI TIMES) – Two out of the three swimmers from the Federate States of Micronesia participating in the Oceania Swimming Championships which starts tomorrow will use the championship to get qualifying times for the Rio Olympic Games.
Swimmers Dionisio Augustine and Debra Daniel will need to clock 23 minutes to get a spot in the Olympics.
The third swimmer Kaleo Khileng is hoping to gain exposure during this championship.
Daniel, who is the lone female swimmer in the group, currently has a personal best time of 30.42 while Augustine is clocking 26.92.
Their coach Sweeter Daniel said the trio was confident of winning medals and achieving their goal of two swimmers qualifying for Rio Olympics.
“We’re confident of reaching our goals,” Daniel said.
“It’ll be a very tough competition for us, but we’re here to give it our best shot.”
Augustine will be competing in the 50 metres and 100m breast stroke, 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle.
Daniel will participate in the 50m and 100 freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m and 100m back stroke.
While Khileng will be in the 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m and 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
