AUKI Futsal champions, the Auki Eels along with Honiara’s Parramatta Kings have been invited to attend and participate in the Fiji Futsal championships next month.
The invitation from the Fiji Futsal association requested that Parramatta Kings and another club from the Solomon Islands can take part in the lucrative Futsal champs.
Recently being crowned champions of Malaita Futsal, the Eels were then requested to participate in the championships by Kings, with the aim of helping boost and develop Futsal in Malaita through such international exposure.
Speaking to Star Sports, Malaita Futsal president Terry Oiaka confirmed receiving the request from the Kings, and also confirming that the Eels will be more than happy to accompany the Kings to take part in the championships.
“The Eels are currently in full swing, training for the Fiji championships.
“Given the opportunity to represent the country is something massive and with it we know that we have to perform up to expectations and standards.
“We know that responsibility and trust placed on us that is why we have been chosen to accompany the Kings to this championship despite the many other talented clubs in Honiara,” Mr Oiaka said.
Mr Oiaka meanwhile added that both Kings and Eels are in contact making preparations for the proposed trip.
