Staff from the Australian High Commission descended on the Central Market this week to promote the upcoming G’Day Solomon Islands Fun Run.
With only a week before the Fun Run, Honiara locals are encouraged to register at the Australian High Commission. The first 1000 entries will receive a FREE G’Day Solomon Islands Fun Run t-shirt.
Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Andrew Byrne says he is looking forward to another strong turnout for the event.
“The Fun Run has already generated a lot of interest amongst the Honiara community.
“We’ve had hundreds of people flooding to the Australian High Commission to register for the event.
“It’s fantastic to see the community supporting this fun and healthy event so enthusiastically”.
The event’s theme ‘Iumi Stap Helti’ promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle with fresh food and regular exercise.
The Fun Run will be held on Saturday 13 September at the Honiara Art Gallery grounds. Participants can choose to complete a 3km walk or a 5km run and can register as individuals or team up with workmates, family, friends or a sports group.
The event offers free registration, lots of great prizes, a free healthy breakfast as well as entertainment.
The Australian High Commission will release more details about the prizes on offer at the Fun Run over the coming days.
