The 2015 Pacific Games organising committee and the Pacific Games Council have expressed great satisfaction at the outcome of the first ever All Sports meeting held in Port Moresby to prepare for the delivery of the sports competitions during the Pacific Games next year.
The GOC organized the two day “All Sports” meetings with the 28 PNG National Sporting Federations whose sports are represented in the Pacific Games, and their corresponding Technical delegates who have been assigned by the International Sport Federations. These TD’s travelled from across the Pacific to attend the two days of meetings.
GOC chairperson, Ms Emma Waiwai at the meeting closing function told participants that the GOC was happy to have initiated this gathering and thanked the Pacific Games Council for its endorsement as this was a critical part for the planning of competitions in the Games.
She thanked officials for travelling into Port Moresby and urged them to inform their respective Sporting federations that Papua New Guinea is ready for the games and all will be in place come July 2015.
Vidhya Lakhan President of the Pacific Games Council echoed these remarks by stating the 2105 Pacific Games GOC has taken a huge step in ensuring that the sports competition will be delivered to the highest standards in July 2015.
Technical delegates and sports competition managers will now begin detailed planning to confirm sports schedules, sport equipment, and staffing requirements of their respective sports.
Some equipment is already on order and the GOC is now putting in place contracts for catering, transport, security, and other logistics to deliver the services.
The National Sporting Federations and the technical officials were briefed on the progress of infrastructure development in Port Moresby and were given a tour of the proposed facilities and venues.
