Voters of Gela have elected a new MP in the person of Bartholomew Parapolo.
This was announced at Central Province capital Tulagi after two days of counting.
Parapolo is a businessman who had unsuccessfully contested previous elections.
His runner up was Janet R, Hatimoana, wife of late Johnley Hatimoana who was the MP for Gela until his passing earlier this year.
In the other constituency of Savo/Russells, Dickson Mua was re-elected for a second term in parliament.
