Solomon Islands and the Federal Republic of Germany have renewed their commitments to further enhance and deepen bilateral relations with each other.
A courtesy meeting between Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele MP and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Solomon Islands, Her Excellency Beate Grzeski affirmed, Solomon Islands and Germany not only share diplomatic and multilateral ties but also common goals in sustainable development, environmental conservation, and cultural exchange.
Solomon Islands and Germany are eager to further strengthen these connections and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Prime Minister Manele recognises and acknowledges Germany for championing ambitious climate policies and renewable energy initiatives which benefit small Island states.
Solomon Islands also acknowledge Germany’s funding support in UXO Awareness, renewable energy, climate projects, WASH projects, Museum and the various multilateral contributions through the Pacific Islands Forum, European Union, World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
Prime Minister Manele explained, Solomon Islands Foreign Policy is clear –‘friends to all’- engaging with all its partners with clear priorities.
H.E Beate expressed, Germany share Solomon Islands concern especially on the National Security threats caused by Climate Change and noted the challenges small Islands states face in accessing climate funds.
Prime Minister Manele assure Her Excellency Beate of his Government’s continuous support during her tenure as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Solomon Islands.
