Malaita Provincial Premier Daniel Suidani is appealing to the nine (9) members of Parliament (MPs) from Malaita who are with the current ruling DCGA government to leave the regime.
Premier Suidani made the call in an exclusive interview with Solomon Star Auki saying; “by now the nine Malaitan MPs within the government should see the big red flag as a warning to turn back and do the right thing for the country.”
The Malaita outspoken premier said the DCGA government has been operating without any vision to this day.
The premier further questioned if the nine MPs who are in support of the Sogavare led regime still have the wisdom to differentiate right from wrong and when to leave when they see something is not right.
“DCGA government has lied to the country from the start,” he claimed.
He added; “To have a government dominated by Our Party members leading the country is a mockery to the whole country especially when none of the MPs in Our Party used the party manifesto to carry out their political campaigns prior to the national general election in 2019.”
The premier further claimed PM Sogavare has blindfolded the whole country by hiring his nephew who is an Australian citizen to be the PMO Chief of Staff.
“The forefinger is also the president of Our Party, the party that is running the country at the moment,” the premier added while referring to the PM.
The Malaita premier further stated; “DCGA under the leadership of PM Sogavare also lied to the country by saying they will consult four reports before switching ties from Taiwan to China.
“However, Sogavare and his cronies made the switch after consulting only one of the four reports,” he said.
The premier said the PM not only lied to the country but also made false assurances to the international community before the switch of ties in September last year when he promised to consult four reports before the switch.
“The PM says he will leave no stones unturned however, he left three stones unturned out of the four stones he promised to turn,” the premier said.
Premier Suidani said the USD100 billion proposed loan the Finance Minister Harry Kuma is negotiating and agreeing with a private source in China has exposed the fact that the current regime is not a responsible one.
“Thus, the nine Malaita MPs with the current regime should leave DCGA now,” he said.
He said the fact that the Finance minister agreed to the 11% interest just added salt to a wounded government regime with no clear vision for the country.
The premier said the writing on the wall is clearly saying it is high time that Malaitan MPs should leave Sogavare’s regime and form a genuine government that can listen and put its people first.
The premier described the leadership as irresponsible and should not be trusted because it fails to serve the interest of the people.
“There are enough reasons for the nine MPs to leave the DCGA government unless they are blindly ignorant of the issues DCGA has been putting the country through right from day one,” he said.
The premier maintained that as elected and mandated leaders they should have the ears to listen to the people and eyes to see where the country is heading.
He said forming a new government to redirect the country from the current mess is the only way forward and is not too late as the current DCGA regime has exposed its incapability to lead women, children, youths and men of this beloved country forward.
The current government has come under heavy criticism in recent weeks following its proposed move to seek loan offers from China under a middle man named Terry Wong.
The Chinese Embassy officials based in Honiara were also baffled about the move when the news came to light.
