Guadalcanal Football Association (GFA) has congratulated the Gaobata Gwale FC for the football initiative to take part in the Honiara Football Association (HFA) pre session competition which kicked off last Saturday at the KGVI sports field.
Ghaobata FC drew 0-0 with San George FC in their first game.
The HFA pre season competition had attracted four teams competing for two spots play off with the four bottom teams in the Second Division.
In a statement the GFA president congratulated the players and officials for the great initiative and for working together to prepare the team in time for the pre season competition.
“In particular I would like to thank the following team officials: Eddie Koto: head team manager, Mathew Lee: assistant team manager, head coach: Jimmy Loga, assistant coach Berwii, team medics Henry Vouza, team secretary Mark Pora, and technical advisor: Clement Tavoria.
The GFA president in a brief meeting with the team officials thanked them and encouraged them to keep up the good work to develop football in our rural communities.
“GFA truly acknowledges your commitment and dedication to improve the game in the province.”
The initiative by Ghaobata Gwale FC is an opportunity for youth and football players in the North Guadalcanal Constituency to play in the higher level league in Honiara. This initiative will surely contribute positively to the standard of football in the province.
The President also praised the MP for North Guadalcanal Hon Martin Sopage for supporting football in Guadalcanal for his sponsorship to the team.
