THE newly elected Premier of Western province David Gina has congratulated Prime Minister Hou and his Government for passing the Anti-Corruption Bill.
Premier Gina applauded the Prime Minister, stating that it is a welcoming news for his executive and his people.
“I sincerely congratulate you and your government for passing the ACB.
“It is a step towards the right direction, in our fight against corruption,” he said.
The Prime Minister in response has given all the credit to all members of parliament from both sides of the House, for their commitment in passing the ACB.
Premier Gina and members of his executive paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Rick Hou yesterday, at the Paul Tovua Complex, Parliament.
Also during the meeting, the Western province premier also informed the prime Minister that his executive is currently working on their policy statement ahead of their 100 days program.
Premier Gina saidone of the immediate tasks of the new executive is to put the house in order and get down to work.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to brief the Premier on the Government legislative calendar.
“The Government has some very important Bills before us which we really want to deal with,” he said.
The Prime Minister then encouraged the new Western provincial executive to enhance trade and investment opportunities in their province.
“Western province has a lot of potential and with the expected opening of the Munda International Airport it will certainly boost economic activity in the province,” he said.
Prime Minister Houenipwela said this will also be supplemented with the development of the undersea cable which Noro has been identified as one of the landing sites.
