A MEETING between Western province premier, Christian Mesepitu and Opposition leader, Mathew Wale in Honiara has been criticized by former premier, David Gina.
Mr Gina has described the meeting as rude, dishonest and volatile, coming from a leader of one of the biggest province that is expected to maintain open and constant dialogue with the ruling DCGA government as a pathway going forward.
Speaking to Solomon Star Gizo via phone interview yesterday, Mr Gina labeled the courtesy call as dangerous for all funding sources as well as foreign investment coming into the Province.
He said the visit to Mr Wale is also dangerous as the Opposition office is full of nothing except hatred and lies.
He said such meetings only take place between provincial Premiers and the Prime Minister’s office.
“There is no such protocol for courtesy on an Opposition leader,” Gina insists.
The former Premier also questioned whether this week’s meeting with the Opposition leader was ever sanctioned by the Provincial Executive.
“…that if so or not, it remain an issue as it should never have taken place to hold courtesy with Mr. Wale who even as a future PM do not hold any interest or envy this country going into the Federal and Statehood for which the Western province is taking an active part.”
The former Premier warned the western leader to retract and return to his right frame of plan and do no mislead the Western public.
“At every cost you need to maintain dialogue with the legitimate government, in this case the ruling Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA)’’.
“There is nothing that you draw from the Opposition because of endless lies. Your first official courtesy call should be organized to meet the Prime Minister,’’ he added
Mr Gina also recalled that the ousting of his government was fully backed by the Minister of Provincial Government & Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS) and PS end of last year.
“…..now the western Premier heralds his victory by saluting an Opposition worth nothing.”
He also called on Prime Minister Sogavare to remove the Minister of MPGIS because the loyalty been shown on the leader of Opposition by the Western leader was unacceptable.
