A YOUNG girl survived with only minor injuries after being hit by a car in the heart of China Town, Central Honiara yesterday morning.
According to witnesses, a white cab (taxi) tried to evade the traffic queu heading toward the old China bridge by taking the opposite lane when it hit the girl who was attempting to cross the road.
“Two girls were trying to cross the road to the China Town Bulk Shop area when the taxi just came speeding and hit the girl. Luckily for the other girl she was standing behind the one that got hit.
“Our officers rushed to the scene thinking of the worst, however we saw the girl struggling to stand up having been hit by the onrushing car onto the road.
“We helped her up and she was taken for medical assistance,” a group of security personnel from the Lion Heart Security Service manning China Town said.
They said, the driver and the girls involved were also taken to the Police station to file reports on the incident.
“Luckily for her (girl) the driver tried desperately to stop the car before hitting the girl,” witnesses said.
In a separate incident also in the same area, a fight erupted after a security personnel tried explaining to a driver who was also taking the same route not to do so.
Fortunately Police were alerted and the situation was contained.
