A YOUNG women who earlier alleged being raped in Auki township, Malaita Province last week had later admitted she was a victim of domestic violence during the incident.
The young woman whom this paper carried her story as being raped exactly as she had earlier confessed to Malaita Council of Women centre in Auki had later altered he story claiming she was physically assaulted by her male partner.
Kilu’ufi hospital in Auki on the other hand disassociates itself from the woman’s earlier claim that one of her rapists was a senior member of the hospital staff.
The hospital management categorically denied any of its staff members was involved in the incident.
Investigation by the Malaita Provincial Council of Women and Kilu’ufi hospital authorities have established the young woman had involved in a domestic dispute with her male partner whom she had been living for almost one year.
The case had now been referred to Auki police for further perusal in their normal course of enforcing law and order.
Meanwhile Malaita provincial council of women says whatever reasons had provoked the unfortunate incident it is imperative men need to respect women folks in this country as incidences of violence against women has been recorded highest in Solomon Islands.
