GIZO Community High School (CHS) in Western Province has joined other schools nation-wide to successfully organise their annual graduation ceremony Thursday last week.
The ceremony featured the forms six and seven students.
The colourful ceremony was organised by the school to honour the final year students who will be sitting for their external exams this week.
The theme for the program was; “Empower to Lead, Inspire to Serve.’
Staff, students, parents, guardians, supporters and guests turned up to witness the program that was staged at the Gizo Primary School Hall.
Because of the ceremony, all classes were suspended on Thursday to allow all students and staff to witness and support the event.
During the ceremony school principal Richard Hiva also acknowledged the outgoing students for their time, commitment and support towards the school throughout this year.
He highlighted that, its been a challenging year for the school.
He also thanked the staff and students for their commitment and support towards the running of the school this year.
Mr Hiva wishes the students all the best in their exams.
Some of the guests who spoke at the ceremony also encouraged the students to continue to dream big.
The students were told that dropping off at the end of form six and seven means the end of their education journey.
The graduating class have been told that there are many options available to continue with their education even if they did not make it through the formal system.
The graduation class through a class spokesperson acknowledged the support from their teachers, school administration and their parents for their support throughout 2024.
One of the supporters Trent Ta’ake who witnessed the program said, it was a colourful event and every one enjoyed.
He said, there was mixed reaction from the students after the graduation.
“Sad because they will leave Gizo High School but excited because they will move on to continue with their education somewhere next year,” he said.
He said, many students shared tears and hugged each other knowing their high school life is over.
The program featured, a marching in procession, devotion, speeches, presentation of certificates, march out parade, shaking of hands, photo sessions and feasting.
The students are sitting their exams as of this week until next week.
