The eligible voter of Gizo/Kolombangara constituency in Western Province will cast their votes to choose their Member Parliament, Wednesday.
The constituents have been without a Member of Parliament since last November when Jimson Tanaganda lost his seat in an election petition against his 2014 victory.
A woman is among the five candidates who will contest the Gizo/Kolobangara by- election today May 23.
Lanelle Tanangada, wife of the former MP Jimson Tanangada and a teacher by profession will challenge the four other male contestants.
Former Prime Minister and previous MP for Gizo/Kolobangara, Gordon Darcy Lilo is the talk of the hour as eligible voters marched to their polling stating today.
Mr Lilo will be contesting under the banner of SIPRA.
The other three candidates are Peter Sogoilo, who is contesting under the Democratic Alliance Party, Kenneth Bulehite, United Democratic Party and Ronald Dive is contesting as an Independent candidate.
The Solomon Star understand that according to the Electoral Act the polling stations will be open at 7am in the morning and closed at 5pm in the evening.
There were total of 12 polling station in Gizo/Kolobangara constituency.
It is likely that the counting will take place tomorrow Thursday.
