GIZO Market in the Western Province will open for only three days starting next week.
This was endorsed by the Western Provincial Executive through the Provincial Health Emergency Oversight Committee (PHOEC) and the Provincial Disaster Committee (PDOC).
In a special address to Western Province today, the provincial premier Christian Mesepitu said as of next week Gizo Market will open only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
“This means there will be no market open in the other days and vendors are restricted from doing any exchanges in any public spaces,” he said.
Mr Mesepitu said market vendors must also wear facemasks when selling at the market and apply social distancing.
“To customers entering the market building, you are asked to wear masks,” he said.
He added that given that Gizo Market will open for only three days, people must stock up their food to ensure they have enough during the days when the market is close.
He said this measure is effective immediately.
