THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in Gizo have conducted a training on Wednesday as part of the preparation for the coming National General Election (NGE) to maintain peace and order as the poling day gets closer.
Gizo Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Mathias Lenialu stated that their officers are well prepared and confident for any situation that may occur during the coming NGE on the April 3rd polls.
He said that the training is very important as one of the objectives to maintain fitness and readiness for any form of criminal activity and disorder in the public will be dealt accordingly with the police.
“Citizens and people in Gizo need to behave well and respect others during the election day,” he said.
“As we move towards the polling day, people need cooperation and should be work closely with the police to avoid problems and troubles during and after the election day,” he added.
Team leader of the Police Response Unit (PRU) Edgar Kapla said that the training will be carried out over two to three days and the officers should be well equipped and ready for the deployment in three different location in the Western Province
“Police officers will be divided into three located zones which are; Gizo, Noro and Seghe to conduct security patrol during the polling day on April 3rd 2019,” Mr Kapla said.
PPC Lenialu said the officers will be deployed to the three locations starting tomorrow.
‘’I’d like to say to all the good voters and supporters in Western province not to take law into your own hands because you will face the consequences at the end.
“I call upon people from Shortlands to Gatokae in Western province to work together with the police to make this NGE safe, secure and a peaceful one,” he concluded.
