Youths engaged under the Gizo Youth@Work branch are kicking off a two weeks community service work to tidy up Gizo town, commencing last Wednesday.
The two week campaign is mainly to engage all the youths in doing community work service around the communities in Gizo.
It is also to ensure the skills and the effort they put in their hearts as participants in the two weeks programme.
According to the Community Service Supervisor and Team member, Wilson Wanefasi the community service work is an important opportunity for the youths.
“The community service is very important for the youths to shape, to build their moral character and their determination before going into intensive trainings, workshops and other fields.”
Mr Wanefasi stated that they want to see the passion and effort they put in their work, coming from their heart that will determine the goals they want to archive.
“We also need their honesty and punctuality, as these are two of the most important things required at the workplace,’’Supervisor Wanefasi said.
The community service involves cleaning up the rubbish disposal from the Gizo main market to Malakerava 3at the Correctional Centre and all the way to down town Gizo.
Stakeholders like Ministry of Tourism and Gizo Town Council also helped to support the campaign in providing materials and equipment and also to help to identify the site for the community service.
Mr Wanefasi lastly likes to thank the stakeholders for their ongoing support on the positive output they contributed to the ongoing programme.
