THE golden boot race for this Telekom S-League (TSL) season is on following last weekend’s matches.
Various candidates started to show their credentials, one of which is the youngster Raphael Lea’i who won last season’s golden boot title scoring 24 goals in seven matches played.
Rafa as commonly known bagged his first two goals to help Henderson Eels FC finish off their opening match with a 5-1 score against FC Isabel United.
Augustine Halumwane of the TSL debutants Southern United FC also had his name on the score sheet twice despite their 3-2 defeat to KOSSA FC.
Barry Limoki of KOSSA scored two goals.
Mathias Iani and Solomon Islands international Gagame Feni both had two goals, scored from the 5-0 win over Real Kakaamora FC on Sunday.
Currently, there are five players with two goals each on the golden boot tally.
The race is far from over and other players are expected to join in the race in the upcoming matches.
Former golden boot race winners, Benjamin Totori, James Naka, and potential candidates the likes of Joses Nawo, Tutizama Tanito, and Tigi Molea to name a few are some of the players to watch in the race for the golden boot title.
