THE 2016 3×3 Basketball Series, Game 1 has made a great start on Easter Monday, with Marist team 1 registering their determination to take out this whole three game series by beating Pinoy Slashers in the grand final, with a nail biting 21 – 18 finish.
Marist A fielded their highly experienced team which comprised of 2015 National Basketball players Waige Turueke, a renowned three point specialist, forward Brian Fatai and two Point Guard specialist Moulton Maefilia and D-Zone.
On the other hand, Pinoy Slashers, led by Eric Meneses, Alvin Cabuhat, Jonathan Pentanas and Andrew Roluna were destructive in their campaign to the grand final, winning all their games all the way.
Slashers proved to be a very experienced team in the 3×3 code, causing Marist team to pull out all their artillery to come out victorious.
Impressive debut for the day will have to go to Woodford Rookies, they were very confident.
After their last game against Marist A, they indicated that they will return in game two.
“We will be practicing hard for this, because we now know their odds of winning but yet they exhibit such great potential to be future great basketball players,” they said.
The 12 teams registered and participated are: Marist A, Marist B, SOSA A, SOSA B, Woodford Rookies, Young Gunz, Gunnerz, West Side Bullets, Pinoy Slashers, Diss-Organized, West Mid Town Crew and Crusaders.
In this format only these 12 teams will qualify to participate in all 3 series, there will be no inclusions of any teams or players.
The organizers have thanked, Woodford International School for allowing their venue, Solomon Breweries Limited for donating soft drink prizes, SIBF, Solomon Islands Basketball Referees, Golden Kiloko for his contribution to 3×3, DJ Naz and DJ Wreck for keeping the sound system going the whole day and all the teams that participated.
The organizers DJ Big E Entertainment and Flipnoise would like to also advised that there will be more nasketball action coming this year.
The 2016 3×3 Series game two is scheduled for May 16.
The venue will be confirmed later.
