THE Solomon Islands Full Gospel Association (SIFGA) will be hosting a national church conference in Honiara Next month.
The conference will be organized by the SIFGA in collaboration with the ministry of Health (MOH) and World Health organisation (WHO).
Chairman of SIFGA Jeffrey Alacky said awareness on non-communicable diseases and smoking ban will some of the main issues of focus during the conference.
“Basically it links to certain areas that Christians need to focus on that is health and doctrine.
“Those issues normally affect Christians on how they respond to health issues,” Mr Alacky said.
He said they will also look at ways to implement a ban on smoking in church compounds and around religious gatherings.
“Those are some areas we will be looking at because some religions allow members to smoke in church compounds.”
Mr Alacky said church doctrines maybe worldly, but they must be followed to ensure a healthy and vibrant Christian society.
He said other visiting friends from health organizations overseas will also be taking part in the conference.
Mr Alacky urged all church leaders from all religious denominations to take part.
