Dear Editor – Its interesting to see more government vehicles running here and there around the city.
It must have cost the government millions of dollars to purchase them.
There are government ministries which have more vehicles than others.
Some of the vehicles were supposed to be used by government for years. However, soon some of these vehicles were transformed into a private vehicle.
Even some of the MPs have new vehicles every year or after every two years.
As soon as they are back in parliament, they own one or two or even more. While it may be their privilege, it seems they have taken advantage of their position to build up their fleets.
It would be interesting to know how many vehicles a MP own in this country.
On the other hand, some of our clinics in the rural areas are in a bad state or running out of medicine.
Schools in our rural areas are also without basic teaching resources and learning materials for students.
How sad it is to see this happening.
This is really unfair for our rural people who are struggling.
Even some of our provincial government ministries are without vehicles or outboard motor to carry out their services.
And in Honiara, MPs, top government officials and other ministries are enjoying their new vehicles.
Common government, its time to be fair to all.
I guess thats why people are drifting to Honiara to also enjoy the benefit of the services that are being offered in the city.
This country needs to change the way it allocates resources.
