Dear Editor – Grateful if you could publish this article in your newspaper to personally congratulate the SIFF President and the Kurukuru coaching officials and players for the fifth victory at the 2016 OFC Futsal championship recently held in Fiji.
The Kurukuru victory is a clear reflection of the significant effort and hard work put into the team preparation by the Coaching staff, Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) and also the key sponsors.
I fully support the SIFF President in a recent media release reiterating and acknowledging the support of key sponsors, in particular Our Telekom, SI Government (SIG), Dural Sports, Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) also to others like DJ Graphics and Solomon Airlines.
All of you are part of the wining formula that earns Solomon Islands qualification to the FIFA futsal world cup in Columbia later this year, Congratulations.
The biggest admiration of all was the magnitude involvement of SIG as a key sponsor in supporting Kurukuru and specifically the cash reward of $10,000 to players.
The incentive reward was well deserved and timely not only to these players but more importantly setting a positive precedent for football players in this country.
The government under Prime Minister Manesah Sogavare’s decision to reward Kurukuru players was consistent and in line with what was previously given to our medal winners during the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.
I thank the government once again for the wisdom behind this incentive to reward our wining sport ambassadors.
It will surely have a positive impact on the level performance of teams and individuals representing our country in future regional and international sport championships.
The Kurukuru achievement under the new SIFF regime is also an important milestone especially in this considerable time of football transition in the Country.
The recent success will give a lot of confidence to SIFF to work towards achieving our ambitious football goal especially to restore our pride in the out door code.
Now with preparation underway with the Senior National Men’s Soccer Team for the upcoming OFC Nations Cup in May 2016, Port Moresby PNG. I am confident that our National Soccer Team will do it the Kurukuru way, taking into consideration that our good government and SIFF with once again stand tall for the Nations Cup campaign.
The news that the squad is expecting a few more international matches is important for the preparation of the team, welcoming news for soccer followers and fans.
Already as part of the squad preparation’s they went on a week-long tour to Australia earlier this month, a move in the right direction for the team preparation.
SIFF and the coaches must be commended for the initiative to intensify the level of preparation with quality test matches against good opposition teams.
I personally believed that the joint forces of SIFF and key sponsors in particular the government will surely make the difference for the team this time around.
GO Solo GO!
