The Ministry of Aviation and Communication (MAC) plans to install a proper water supply and a standby water pump generator at Henderson domestic terminal as part of upgrading services at the terminal.
This was revealed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary (PS) Francis Lomo yesterday.
This is to ensure there is continuous supply of water to the domestic terminal, he said.
At the moment water supply to the terminals toilets have been very unreliable.
Mr Lomo said, a tender process will be issued soon to find a suitable contractor to work on the project.
“This is to ensure the facilities are upgraded to a better standard since the current state of the terminal is really bad,” Mr Lomo said.
The PS added, a budget submission had been made to cater for this upgrading work.
A frequent traveller Brendon Pinau to the Western Province thanked the government for the plan to address this outstanding issue at the Henderson domestic airport.
“I have raised this issue before and since the government is taking the responsible to address the issue, I would like to thank the government for the assurance to improve the service at the terminal.”
A tourism operator in the Western Province who wants her name withheld said, the issue of domestic airport facilities has been left idle for sometimes and was never addressed by the past successive government.
“I would like to thank the current government through the ministry in moving ahead to improve this service at the terminal.
“As a tourism operator, most of my guests have raised this issue to me.”
Therefore the move to upgrade some of the facilities at the domestic terminal is a move into the right direction for the country and the tourism industry,” she said.
