THE Government is urged to financially support eco-tourism operators in the country.
Aola ward member in the Guadalcanal Provincial Assembly, Gordon Tapalia, made the call at the end of an eco-tourism training in Honiara, yesterday.
“Some eco-tourism operators are doing fine, but they need financial support from the government,” Mr Tapalia said.
“We’ve gone through similar trainings like this before but I think what operators and would-be operators need is financial support from the government,” he added.
“People wanting to go into eco-tourism need money to start off their projects.
“This is where the government could come in.
“I therefore urged the current government to support those that have already started and those intending to start.”
The one-week eco-tourism course was conducted by Green Tourism.
