DEMOCRATIC Coalition for Change (DCC) Government is committed to reopening the Russell Islands Plantation Estate Limited (RIPEL) on Yandina, Central island province.
Edward Kingmele, the national consultant for agriculture, lands &fisheries within the Prime Minister Office (PMO) highlighted this during the official launching of the Rural Development Program (RDP) component 2 at Mendana Hotel on Friday.
Mr Kingmele said, the government is working hard to develop massive agriculture sectors in the country to boost country’s economy.
“DCC believes that agriculture is the back born of this country and one very important sectors the DCC government is currently working on now is to reopen RIPEL on Yandina, Russel Island in Central Island Provinces,” Mr Kingmele said.
He said, DCC is also working closely with other investors to invest in the country on other sectors to boost the country’s economy.
“DCC government will also be bringing other investors into the country to invest here basically to create employment and boost our economy back to normalcy.
“But one very important sector is agriculture. And the government is committed to support is agriculture. Currently the government is working very hard with to ensure it reopens the RIPEL plantation because this is the biggest agriculture sector that can fast-tract the country’s economy,” Mr Kingmele a former permanent secretary ministry of agriculture and livestock said.
