A top level government delegation is visiting Singapore this week at the invitation of the Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA), the nation’s first State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) that has engaged a Singaporean firm to carry out its reforms.
A statement issued by the PMO Press Secretariat on Monday said, on the delegation are the Minister for Infrastructure Development Stanley Sofu, the Minister for Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration William Marau, the Chairman of Government Caucus Jackson Filaua and other senior officials.
The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, Deli Sharon Oso, is also traveling with the delegation, which will be given firsthand information about the comprehensive reform program being undertaken at SIPA as well as the projection for growth under the reforms.
Ten Singaporean consultants are carrying out the reforms. The consultants will do a presentation on the team’s commercial strategy for Solomon Islands.
The Solomon Islands’ delegation would also be given a presentation on Singapore’s economic development. While there, members will be taken on site visits to see Singapore’s world class ports facilities including desalination plants there.
