AN opportunities list containing108 courses under the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) fully-funded scholarships for 2023 are now up for grabs.
Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD) through the National Scholarship Division (NSD) at SITESA released the list of opportunities allowing locals to apply.
It is unclear how many scholarship awards will be offered based on the 108 opportunities list and the 2022-2023 National Education Training Plan.
Already students and public officers are rushing around to prepare documents to apply.
The National Scholarship Division (NSD) at SITESA in a statement last week said applications are welcomed from local citizens only.
“These scholarship awards will be made available next year and are full awards funded by the Solomon Islands Government with the aim of training its citizens with relevant skills that would support economic and social growth and prosperity in the country,” NSD said.
Details of the spaces for each category and the location of the academic institutions are indicated in the scholarship information sheet online, NSD highlighted.
Applicants can apply for qualification levels from certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, masters and Phds in any of the priority areas.
The SIG scholarship programme offers fully-funded scholarships to assist locals gain valuable knowledge and skills to contribute to the human resource development needs of the country.
There are five (5) categories of scholarship choices to apply for and these are:
- 1. Pre-Service (school based, Skills and Self-funded)
- 2. Pre-Service (Constituency)
- 3. In-Service Public Sector
- 4. In-Service Private Sector
- 5. In-Service teaching Sector
All applications must be done online and applicants have until 30th November to apply.
Results are expected early next year and successful applicants will be able to study at institutions in the country like Solomon Islands National University (SINU), University of the South Pacific (USP) Solomon Islands Campus and a number of rural training centres.
Opportunities are also available for studies in Cuba, Fiji, Australia, Papua New Guinea and Malaysia.
