THE Solomon Islands Government, through the Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA) will continue to deliver more airports on its plate to the good people of Solomon Islands for their connectivity and businesses.
This was uttered by Minister of MCA Hon Peter S. Agovaka at the official handing over of the project for the improvement of the Honiara International Airport, last week.
“We are also looking at Lata airport and I acknowledge the presence of the World Bank who will be funding the Late Airport.
“We have been doing the procurement of Kirakira Airport in Makira Ulawa Province, Rennell Bellona Airport as well as the Balalai Airport.
“Our time frame is so short. However, by October hopefully most of the infrastructure will be completed or in working progress,” he said.
“These are all on our plate to deliver this year.
He further added this year his ministry will continue to deliver more airport infrastructure for the people of Solomon Islands.
He said other ministries will also deliver other infrastructures to their capacity.
He said Honiara and Munda International are important and crucial infrastructure developments our country needs in terms of equipping and providing flight services for people in SI to travel to their destinations.
He thanked the Japanese Government, JICA and Kitano construction for supporting the Solomon Islands Government to build the project for the improvement of the Honiara International Airport.
Other countries and aid donors are also supporting the ministry of MCA to build airports in the country.
