The Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government has welcomed the outcome of the public forum organized by Forum Solomon Islands International (FSII) last week.
In a statement on Sunday government said, itlooks forward to receiving the resolutions and providing the necessary clarification.
“Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare and the entire Democratic Coalition for Change Government Caucus welcomed the queries raised by the FSII in Honiara last week to discuss the decisions of DCCG which it (FSII) described as controversial and will await the presentation of resolutions reached before offering further clarification on matters raised.
“While there are a number of significant issues which have been overlooked that require national unity and public attention, the government is aware of the concerns raised and will consider the resolutions and respond to them in a timely and informative manner,” the statement added.
As for the Opposition Group urging the Prime Minister to call Parliament immediately for the purpose of clarifying controversial issues, the OPMC statement said, Mr Sogavare will call for Parliament to convene at the time DCCG deems it appropriate.
It added that, “In the meantime should there be any particular issues the Opposition Office requires further details on, the DCC Government is more than willing to facilitate the relevant information in consultation and dialogue through regular Government channels of communication.
“There is no brick wall preventing Officials or MP’s from the Opposition Office approaching the relevant Officers to seek clarification on matters of public concern. To address issues of public interest and achieve progressive development it is important that we set aside our differences and focus on working together to build our nation.”
