GUADALCANAL provincial government has passed its $17 million budget last week before the change of leadership on Tuesday.
Ousted Premier, Bartholomew Vavanga’s led executive had passed the budget where his successor, Anthony Veke was the former Finance Minister.
According to a officer in the provincial government, Veke resigned after the budget was passed in order to move the motion against Vavanga.
Veke’s group succeeded in their motion of no confidence to remove Vavanga at the end.
“Eventhough there is a change of leadership, but it will not affect the budget because it had already being passed.
“Therefore the province has no problem with its budget,” the officer said.
According to the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, all budgets of the nine provinces must be passed before 31st March to allow the Minister to endorse them.
So far, all the nine provinces have met the deadline of passing their budgets.
Malaita province passed its $30 million budget last Thursday, while Western province appropriated its $25 million on Wednesday.
Isabel Province had also passed its $19 million budget on Wednesday in Buala.
