SEVENTEEN medical doctors who recently graduated from Cuba arrived back in the country Wednesday this week.
The group consists of four female doctors and 13 male doctors.
They were welcomed by representatives from the Ministry of Education – National Training Unit (NTU), Solomon Cuba Student Family Association (SCSFA), family members, friends and friends on their arrival at Henderson International Airport.
Official from the National Training Unit of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, Rose Kudi thanked the newly graduated doctors for their achievement.
She said it was due to their dedicated commitment that saw their successful completion of their training as qualified medical practitioners.
“Your arrival home as newly qualified doctors is a blessing to the country because your success story is also a success story for the National Training Unit and the country as a whole.”Ms Kudi told the newly graduated doctors.
Solomons Cuba Student Family Association president Sampson Tahuniara said, they were very happy to welcome back the newly graduated doctors in the country.
He said as a local association which looks after the welfare of the students studying in Cuba, they were very happy to see each of the 17 newly graduated doctors returning with their qualifications to serve the country.
He said their association will keep on working hard to support the students who are still studying in Cuba the same way they supported the new doctor graduates.
Representative from the newly arrived doctors Dr. Frank Mautai said they want to thank God for bringing them home safely.
“We also want to thank our parents and guardians for their support and prayers during the course of our studies,” he said
The students spent some seven years to complete their medical studies.
