A MAN who confesses to sexually abusing his six year-old grand-niece in 2019 in north Guadalcanal has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Justice Maelyn Bird delivered the sentence on Monday in the High Court.
The accused who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim had pleaded guilty to one count of sexual intercourse with a child under 15.
This is in relation to the incident between 8am and 12pm on 20 February.
The accused was in his late 40’s at that time while the victim was only six years of age.
He committed the offence when the victim went over to his house.
