The Government has designated the 2023 South Pacific Games “The Green Games”.
We need hundreds more trees to achieve this, yet not only are there no trees being planted, but also palms on the median strip have been cut down and large trees continue to be cut down.
If the government has a plan for the greening of Honiara, why has it not been implemented? We will be in May in a few days which leaves only six months to get the capital looking green.
Perhaps the government should change the name of the games before visitors arrive to a dry, dusty and virtually treeless Honiara and wonder why the city is not green.
