PEOPLE of North Guadalcanal will not entertain any group to conduct meetings based on their own interest which may confuse people and ex-combatants.
In a statement on Monday a leader of the ex-combatants in North Guadalcanal John Lee claimed there is a group going around trying to confuse and destabilize people to follow their set up and to follow them.
He said, chiefs, youths, women, children and people of North Guadalcanal, especially the Guadalcanal Post Conflict Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Restoration Association (GPCRRRA) members would like to inform the public of Guadalcanal that they would like to make it clear that they would not entertain any ethnic or cultural groupings to convene any meeting on North Guadalcanal.
“There have been plans to convene meetings on North Guadalcanal to discuss issues of their own interest.
“We the ex-combatants of North Guadalcanal and our people make our stand that we are in full support of the formation of GPCRRRA and its constitution to work along with the DCCG Government and its policy to rehabilitate our members and the ex-combatants throughout the country.
“The ex-combatants have been in full support of the Guadalcanal Post Conflict Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Restoration Association a registered, legal and legitimate body under the Solomon Islands Post Conflict Rehabilitation and Restoration Association (SIPCRRA) and recognized by the DCCG Government.”
Mr Lee said this group is trying to confuse and destabilize people to follow their agenda.
“Certain leaders and ex-combatants supporting a certain group are going around convening meetings of their own agenda and to confuse people.
“Some of those people have never contributed to the peace process and have also not contributed to the recent reconciliation program at Rove.
“I therefore call on the police to monitor any group that hold meetings in North Guadalcanal as that would be unlawful assembling.”
Ex-combatant commander for Birao ward Derold Kikilo has also expressed support to Mr Lee.
Francis Kennedy and his boys of West Guadalcanal have also disallowed their area for any groups to convene meetings of their own agenda in their Constituency, the statement added.
“Only GPCRRRA , SIPCRRA and the Government can convene meetings in their area. GPCRRRA is the only body that compiles and submit the Rehabilitation claim of Guadalcanal Ex-combatants to the Government and no other group.
“Those who head such group should not destabilize the peace process which has taken off the ground and come forward and take part rather than hiding behind and doing the opposite.
“Police should step up on these groups and those that need to be charged, must be charged and those that need to return to Prison must be returned as they are not ambassadors of peace.”
