A CONCERN group in Auki, Malaita province is calling on both the national government and the new provincial assembly (MPA) to re-open airports in Malaita Province.
The group said Gwaunaru’u and Parasi airports have been closed for some time now and must be reopened.
Gwaunaru’u airport in west kwara’ae and Parasi airport in small Malaita were closed due to land issues.
The group said reopening these links must be prioritized before the new national and provincial governments can venture into their long term businesses.
“Malaita province is one of the big provinces that need those links reopened.”
The group urged leaders responsible to work collaboratively with landowners of the concerned airports.
